ITV Coronation Street fans think they've spotted key to Stephen being caught as they say it's 'official'

Coronation Street fans have wondered if they have spotted the key to Stephen Reid being caught as they believe he is responsible for the ITV soap's latest death. Viewers have watched the bogus businessman's patience be tested by Underworld client Rufus Donahue.

Rufus first made his appearance in the soap earlier this year when Stephen was seen visiting his hotel room to resurrect the deal with Rufus and Underworld and in return he’d receive a 15 percent commission and a permanent contract.

But things took a turn when Rufus made it clear he wasn't interested but offered him some cocaine and the hallucinogenic drug LSD before he collapsed clutching his chest. After Rufus was rushed off to the hospital, Stephen faked Rufus’s signature on the unsigned contract and even pocketed some of his LSD which he later used to drug Carla Connor.

Rufus, however, made a recovery and returned to Weatherfield, making it clear to Stephen that he knew what he was doing to Carla. And after weeks of tense exchanged between the pair, during Wednesday night's episode (April 12), things were ramped up a notch after Stephen was forced to agree to Rufus’ demand for 50% of the profits from the Nippersnapper deal.

It comes after Michael Bailey, who co-created the brand with Stephen's niece Sarah Barlow, caused Stephen further problems after telling him he can stick his job as Rufus has offered him a better job in London.

But when Michael arrived at his house to see him, his knocking received no reply and hearing loud music from inside he calls him and leaves him a voicemail. The no-show comes after Rufus was earlier seen answering the doors and asking: "What are you doing here?"

And later in the week, as Michael tries to smooth things over with Stephen, his uncle Ronnie advise him to give Rufus another try and viewers will see them return to Rufus' house only to find it swarming with police before learning that he has been found dead in the swimming pool.

While viewers didn't see how he died or who, if anyone, killed him, Corrie fans are already suspecting Stephen is responsible and think they'll know how he'll get caught after already claiming the lives of Leo and his dad, Teddy.

@Wee_Westie29 tweeted: "Looks like Stephen may have claimed his 3rd victim and that now makes him an official Corrie serial killer! #Corrie." @DonnyMacEdin commented: "#Corrie presumably the loose tie pin will be Stephen’s downfall when it’s found in Rufus’s house."

@paulbellis shared: "Stephen will lose that tie pin at the murder scene. Such a crowbarred item in the script #Corrie." @clfvegan added: "So Steven murders Rufus, his tie pin falls off, he doesn’t realise, and that’s what catches him! #Corrie."
