Coronation Street fans have been left delighted as two legends of the ITV soap reunited 20 years after they were last seen on-screen together. And the sweet reunion also left loyal viewers of the long-running show make a demand.
Kevin Kennedy and Angela Lonsdale were seen back together as she headed to support him in his new role, two decades after they shared the screen together in Corrie. Fans were remember the pair for playing Emma Taylor and Curly Watts.
Police sergeant Emma, who arrived on the cobbles back in 2000, was the second wife of Curly, who actually starred in the soap from 1983. They met when she arrived to investigate crimes in the area and they married on Christmas Eve 2000 before Emma gave birth to their son Ben on Boxing Day 2001.
But in 2003 the couple put number 7 Coronation Street on the market and moved to Newcastle. But when Curly made a comeback for the 2010 spin-off DVD movie A Knight's Tale, when he revealed that his marriage to Emma had since ended.
After Corrie, Angela starred in The Bill, Doctors and the children's TV drama Wolfblood. She played Grace Lane, the mother of Michelle Keegan's character Lance Corporal Georgie Lane in the BBC drama Our Girl and in 2018 she played 'Scary' Sue Buchanan in hospital drama Holby City. Then last year, she swapped Weatherfield for Chester to play the mum of a teen killer in Hollyoaks.
Meanwhile, Kevin continued to work in show business on projects like Holby City and Mrs Brown's Boys but is now entertaining thousands of fans on stage each night. He is playing the role of rocker Dennis Dupree in the ongoing "farewell" tour of the rock n roll musical Rock of Ages.
And this is how he and Angela came back together as she headed to see him in action earlier this week at Manchester Opera House." Sharing a fabulous picture of the pair on Instagram, the actress penned: "Reunited with my corrie hubby @realkevinkennedy Break a leg pet! @rockofagesmusicaluk."
"Smashed it KK,” she later added in the comments. TV presenter Jenny Powell was among the first to respond, writing: "Wow .. that brings back memories." While fans were quick to respond to the nostalgic snap - and they want them to make a comeback to Weatherfield.
