ITV Coronation Street fans figure out Stephen's downfall as they make prediction after Leo death

Coronation Street fans have made a damning prediction about Stephen Reid after he was uncovered as a murderer. There was horror on the cobbles on Monday night (September 26) as the Canadian's desperation to keep his money woes and plans to steal from his own mother quiet led to him becoming a killer.

Leo Thompkins grew suspicious of Stephen after initially looking to him for advice about moving to Canada. But viewers of the ITV soap gasped when the tension between the pair reached boiling point. After catching him lying about staying in a hotel when he really slept in his car, Leo discovered that Stephen had also shared a kiss with his fiancee Jenny Connor while they were on a break.

Leo ended up punching Stephen and, on a mission to prove that he's a liar, he contronted him about his plan to get his hands on the equity from his mum Audrey’s house. As he followed Leo onto the Underworld factory gantry, Leo taunted him, threatening to call Audrey.

Seeing red, Stephen lunged at Leo and the pair got into a scuffled over his mobile. But it wasn't long before Stephen sent Leo plunging over the railings with the victim landing in the commercial bin below. Stephen became disorientated as he discovered Leo was dead but ended up being distracted by the arrival of his niece, Sarah Barlow.

He thought the bins would be emptied but later, Leo was still encased in his unsavory resting place and so Stephen returned to the scene of the crime, tipped Leo's lifeless body out of the bin and hauled him inside in order to hide his body elsewhere and cover up his shocking crime.

But Corrie fans think they know what will spark his downfall. In between killing Leo and moving his body, the police arrived at Underworld as the open door to the gantry triggered the alarms. There was mention from the officers of checking the CCTV but there appeared to be no need as nothing had been stolen and it was actually Stephen's fault for leaving the door open.

That doesn't mean it won't come back to haunt him - maybe! @spartacus2906 asked: "Isn’t this all going to be recorded on Carla’s cctv? #corrie," to which @LouiseHazeldine replied: "Hope she’s the one who takes him down - she’s never liked him, and for good reason!"

@Marky_Tweets wrote: "Don't tell me... CCTV at Underworld missed that #Corrie." @diggamatik tweeted: "Don't forget the #CCTV that #Carla & the #Police mentioned earlier #Stephen! #Corrie." @LyndseyFitz posteD: "What about CCTV #Stephen ?? I wonder will something of #Leo be found in the #Underworld van!! #Corrie." @Juani983 added: "Oh s**t. The CCTV! Steven’s gonna have that! #Corrie."

Meanwhile, others have made a horrifying prediction about the character, played by Todd Boyce. @RyanGSoapKing11 tweeted. "Stephen #Corrie's new serial killer." @lubbingJo posted: "Ahhh it looks like we have the next serial killer on our hands with Stephen! #Corrie." @DionPetrie added: "New serial killer? I hope so I like the serial killer storylines although I was hoping the next killer would be Hope #Corrie."

Some Corrie fans, however, aren't too happy about it. @AprilQuinn2x complained: "Dear @itvcorrie do we really need another serial/killer Steven going on the rampage cause someone has found out his secret. We’ve been here before. I’m already tired of it #corrie." @spinoutdaz echoed: "I love #Corrie but the show does not need another serial killer. there has been too many in just one street."
