Fans were left confused when Coronation Street shared a behind-the-scenes look at the soap's latest scenes which saw Gary Windass digging his own grave. As viewers know, Kelly Neelan has hired a hitman to bump off her guardian after finding out he was responsible for her dad's death.
Gary, played by Mikey North, killed gangster Rick Neelan in the act of self defence back in 2019. After various confrontations and threats, Gary met Rick in the woods where he discovered the loan shark had dug his grave. But in a horror fight, Gary killed Rick and buried him in the grave.
But now his past has come back to haunt him after Rick's daughter Kelly discovered the truth. Upon finding out it wasn't her mum who killed her dad, following her 'confession' on her death bed earlier this year, the teen only had revenge in mind.

She ended up hiring her former kidnapper as a hitman and during Wednesday night's episode, viewers saw Kieron's plan spring into action as Gary was knocked out, bundled into the back of a van and taken to the woods where he was forced to dig his own grave.
But Corrie fans were left complaining over the scenes being 'too dark' - and we don't mean in the horrible sense. @DavidMackayy tweeted: "Christ alive can barely see what’s happening, it’s so dark #corrie." @onlysmols wrote: "Me trying to see what's going on because it's so dark in the woods #Corrie."
@NewsatTwm asked: "Why is tonight's Coronation Street filmed in the dark? #Corrie." @XxLadyClaireXx remarked: "Bit dark, isn’t it? #Corrie."
However, all wasn't as it seems as the cast didn't actually film in the dark leading to some bafflement from fans. Taking to Instagram, the soap shared some behind-the-scenes snaps from filming. They showed Mikey filming in broad daylight in his self-dug hole.
He also posed for a smiley snap with Pat Lally, who is playing the menacing Kieron in this week's scenes. "Corrie secret," they penned alongside the images. "We actually filmed tonight's woods scenes in the middle of the day on one of the hottest days of the year!
@tomh2118 replied: "So this wasn’t actually shot at night but the middle of the day?" @sarah_w22x asked: "How did you get it all dark?" @blewi18 echoed: "How do you then make it dark (at night)?" @bohemianravenofficial shared: "No that’s some editing magic!! Loved the episode, though I was screaming at Kelly lol. Such great work and a great family at Corrie!"
@janenixon1 added: "That was brilliant so clever. Others, however, didn't appear to be tricked. @becky_eatcleanfeelfab replied: "Sorry but knew it was fake nighttime." @jjdenison commented: "Anytime you use that awful blue filter we know you filmed it in broad daylight."
