ITV Coronation Street fans 'absolutely devastated' as on-screen couple pose for 'happily ever after' snap behind-the-scenes

Coronation Street fans have said they are 'absolutely devastated' after seeing an on-screen couple pose for a 'happily ever after' snap. Peter Ash and Daniel Brocklebank were all smiles behind the scenes on the ITV soap as they posed for the camera at what should have been Daniel Osbourne and Daisy Midgeley's wedding.

Their characters Paul Foreman and Billy Mayhew were on the guest list for the big day which was rocked by tragedy when Daisy's stalker Justin Rutherford returned to the cobbles in order to unleash a horrific attack on the bride-to-be. After a series of hiccups tried to ruin her big day, things only got worse.

The barmaid's stalker was lurking in the shadows at the Rovers Return as she and Ryan Connor, who was drafted in as chauffeur as well as DJ, locked up the pub. After suggesting things were too perfect for her, Justin hurled acid in Daisy's direction. But in a shocking twist, Ryan Connor stepped in and was left writhing and screaming as the substance burned through his face and arm.

Taking to Instagram Peter posted a photo of himself and Daniel sat in a pair of extravagant wicker chairs. A neon sign read 'Happily Ever After' behind the suited and booted pair as they were surrounded by various floral displays.

"Paul & Billy at the Daisy/Daniel wedding - @danielbrocklebank," Peter wrote alongside the sweet image but it only led to heartbreak from Corrie fans as it reminded them that the couple won't be together forever after it was revealed that Paul will be diagnosed with motor neurone disease.

Viewers of the ITV soap have been worried for the builder ever since he was accidentally knocked over by Carla Connor in her Underworld van after unknowingly being drugged with LSD by Stephen Reid. But his struggles with his hand have sparked concern for medics who have confirmed that it isn't anything to do with his accident.

Paul was recently seen being referred to a specialist, before, in early April, he is given the devastating news that it is very likely he has MND with the diagnosis then being confirmed later in the month. MND is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. It attacks the nerves that control movement so muscles no longer work. MND does not usually affect the senses such as sight, sound and feeling but it can leave people locked in a failing body, unable to move, talk and eventually breathe.

Co-star Daniel also shared the identical snap to his own Instagram page and wrote: "The lovely @peterash_85 & I giving it 'happy ever after' vibes. And fans were making the same comments.
