ITV Coronation Street Andy Whyment's luxury life away from the screen and co-star roommate

Andy Whyment is firmly established as a Coronation Street legend.

The 41-year-old soap star has played Kirk Sutherland on the long-running ITV show since 2000. The actor has played Kirk through some of the show's most dramatic storylines as he had a rollercoaster romance with Fiz Brown before he found love with Beth Tinker.

Kirk has endured a difficult week on the soap as his marriage was on the rocks after a dispute with Beth. The character felt he couldn't believe Beth after she lied about hitting Hope Stape.

He was also jealous after she told him about her first lover, Marco. However, the week fortunately had a happy ending as Kirk and Beth made up just as he was considering moving out of their house.

Away from the screen, Andy's life is much more settled than his character's as he is happily married to Nicola Willis. The happy couple have been married since 2007 and share two children named Thomas and Hollie.

Andy swooned over his wife in an interview with OK! Magazine in 2017 as he said he is a lucky man. He said: "I’ve been punching above my weight for years – she’s gorgeous! I’m a very lucky bloke.

"We’ve been together 14 years and we just don’t argue. We get on so well." Andy regularly shares an insight into his happy family life on Instagram.

The family's trip to Cape Verde in 2020 was sadly derailed due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, they refused to let it dampen their spirits as they enjoyed a luxurious afternoon in their garden hot tub.

Andy has regularly shared updates of the family relaxing in style in their garden.

Andy was sharing a flat with his co-star, Alan Halsall, when he met Nicola and she hilariously admitted it took a few months for her now husband to stop acting "like an idiot".

She said: "He was single and sharing a place with Al. He was just giving it big time and not doing what I wanted him to do."

Andy considers the Tyrone Dobbs star his "best mate" and issued a heartfelt tribute to him on his 40th birthday. He said: "Today @alanhalsall turns 40 we’ve known each other for over 30 years, I feel so lucky that I can call you my best mate my brother.

"Happy 40th Birthday have the best day. Love you bro."
