ITV have interrupted their usual scheduled programming for an ITV News special about Queen Elizabeth.
Following Tipping Point airing on ITV, an announcement came for viewers tuning into the channel to confirm that an ITV News special will be airing from 5pm onwards, replacing The Chase. It is not yet known how long it will air for, but it is likely to run into the usual news segment, which begins at 6pm and airs for an hour and a half before Emmerdale.
Concern had grown for Queen Elizabeth's health, after Buckingham Place made a rare statement about the monarch's health. In the statement, it was said how doctors had been growing concerned for the Queen's health.
ITV's royal editor Chris Ship confirmed the schedule change in a tweet, which read: "Given today’s developments @itvnews will be on air for a special news programme at 5pm on @ITV with @nightingaleitv #queen."
As the channel switched to ITV News coverage, there were live pictures from Balmoral, where the Queen is said to be comfortable and resting. Her family are either already there or are making their way to be with her.
The statement was made earlier today. It read: "Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen's doctors are concerned for Her Majesty's health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision. The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral."
The Chase was due to be aired at 5pm on ITV today, followed by the usual news programme at 6pm until 7.30pm. Emmerdale usually airs from this time, but it is not yet known whether regular programming schedules will return by then.
Earlier today, the BBC pulled their usual programming in favour of a rolling news item about the Queen's health. It was helmed by Huw Edwards. During their coverage, he was joined by Royal Editor Nicholas Witchell, who spoke of his concerns for the Queen.
On ITV, their royal editor Chris Ship spoke of how the Queen's meeting with the former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and welcoming the new Prime Minister Liz Truss and inviting her to form a government. He confirmed the meeting was meant to take place in London, but a week before it was decided that it would take place in Balmoral instead.
Prince William and Prince Andrew are among those who have now arrived to be with the Queen. Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, are already there, as is Anne, Princess Royal.
Prince Harry - without his wife Meghan Markle - is also said to be on his way and ITV say that he has been liaising with the royal family about his travel arrangements as he heads to be with his grandmother.
Balmoral is about an hour from the airport, and is a favourite home of the Queen's.
