Britain's Got Talent viewers got all emotional as they spotted a moment between one of the young acts and the judges during the live final. The ITV talent show came to a spectacular end on Sunday night (June 5) following a week of live semi-final shows.
And it was comedian Axel Blake who was crowned the 2022 winner, bagging the £250,000 prize money and a spot at the star-studded Royal Variety Performance. The 33-year-old property maintenance manager from west London, who was Simon Cowell’s golden buzzer choice, said "words can’t even explain" his emotions as hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly announced his name.
Axel scooped the title as ventriloquist Jamie Leahey and his puppet Chuck the chicken came in second, while singer Tom Ball took third place.
His win has caused a divide among BGT viewers after it emerged after his stand-up audition that he was already a 'professional' that he had his own show on Amazon Prime Video. While many have their say, others have taken to social media to name the 'real winner' of the series.
But in amongst the two-hour show was a rather adorable moment with seven-year-old Aneeshwar Kunchala, from Warrington, who continued his passionate message to protect the environment with another inspiring poem. He got momentarily nervous at the beginning but he carried on confidently after cheers of support from the audience.
The judges - Simon, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and David Walliams - were full of praise for the young environmentalist but Aneeshwar did call Simon out. Asking to speak while being given his comments, the schoolboy said: "Simon, quick thing - yesterday when I was rehearsing the start I noticed something on your chair, I noticed that you had some chewing gum and so... and on your desk."
Cringing, Simon said: "Did you see that? Yeah, you're right. I can't believe you called me out and I apologise." He then ended his final moment by asking the judges if he could go and get a photo with them. With the show going to an ad break, Dec ushered Aneeshwar off the stage where he was met by David to help him down the stage steps and up to the judging panel.
He then took his place in Amanda's seat before some more people came to join them - the judges children. Simon's son Eric, eight, and Amanda's youngest daughter Holly, 10, were seen fussing over the BGT finalist before the camera cutaway and Ant and Dec finished their link.
But the sweet moment didn't go unnoticed by BGT viewers. @socialmediajon1 tweeted: "It’s great how a 7 year old just changed the whole format of the BGT final by asking for a selfie mid show with all of the judges." @BernieClugston commented: "You know it’s been an emotional few days when the little lad on #BGT wants a selfie with the judges and it makes you cry."
@LeeKirton77 wrote: "This kid on #BGT is incredible. Nice message delivered to millions and then asking for a photo on live TV. Perfect." @Wandoful said: "Goodness I’m going to cry at Aneeshwar and the judges kids talking each other."
@vanitydinglee reacted: "The judges kids getting on stage to get a picture with him too Omg #bgt." @liamandrews123 ehcoed: "omg all of the judge’s kids coming up to speak to him is so. cute #BGT."
