ITV Britain's Got Talent duo Ant and Dec 'split up' as contestant leaves Ant 'raging' backstage

An act auditioning for ITV's Britain's Got Talent has caused a 'break up' between seemingly inseparable duo Ant and Dec, it has been reported. One half of the duo was left raging behind stage after being snubbed on air.

As the show's return after a near two year hiatus proves to be a real ratings winner for ITV, the hosts have one again played a pivotal role in its success, with viewers lapping up their backstage quips and reactions to acts, as well as digs at the judges. For as long as anyone can remember, since their TV debut over 30 years on Byker Grove, Ant and Dec have always come as a pair, particularly on screen, so it came as a surprise when a BGT contestant decided to separate them.

One of the early acts on screen during Saturday's Britain's Got Talent was entertainer Tommy J, who told the judges he was going to juggle knives whilst riding a unicycle. After arriving on stage and getting his introductions over with, Tommy said: "So I'm looking for a volunteer. An intelligent man, dare I say, a sexy man."

And then as Simon Cowell raised his hand, Tommy added: "Yes...it's Dec. Come on Dec!" As Dec walked in from backstage, wheeling the giant unicycle into shot, judge David Walliams pointed and shouted: "He can't get on that!" Ant was also quick to react, looking at the camera and grumbling: "Just Dec by the way. Who arranged this?"

Simon was quick to buzz for Tommy to finish, before Ant did actually get to play a part in the routine by bringing some flamed torches for Tommy to contend with, says Chronicle Live. The judges were torn on whether to put Tommy through to the next round, with Simon and Amanda not impressed and Alesha going with the audience reaction and saying yes, as did David.

Amanda admitted she was 'in the middle,' but after Ant and Dec declared they loved the act, Amanda declared: "We don't do enough for Ant and Dec, so for them, it's a yes!"
