Britain's Got Talent fans heard boos from the audience as the 2023 champion was crowned. Norwegian comedian Viggo Venn landed a place at the Royal Variety Performance and £250,000 after being named the winner of this year's competition.
Lilliana Clifton finished runner up and Cillian O'Connor finished in third place, Birmingham Live reports. As the winner was announced, Twitter users were sure they heard boos. "First time the audience has booed a winner" Geoff tweeted. Aimee said: "Is it me or is Viggo being booed? #BGT "
Putcaption said: "the crowd literally booed. What a joke." Kamal said: "Rightfully so. What a joke." Jeff typed: "Even the crowd booed the winning act !"
As Viggo was crowned champion, the crowd donned their high-vis jackets and some screamed repeatedly 'one more time' until the music played. He was then seen ripping his jacket off to reveal another high-vis underneath.
The full line up was Musa Motha, Amy Lou, Viggo Venn, Olivia Lynes, Ghetto Kids, Travis George, Malakai Bayoh, Duo Odyssey, Cillian O'Connor and Lillianna Clifton. But it was comedian Viggo, who "captured the heart of the nation", who was crowned the winner of Britain's Got Talent 2023.
Dancer Lilliana C, 13, and 14-year-old magician Cillian placed in second and third respectively - but missed out on the title. Venn's high-vis inspired routine in the grand final won him the £250,000 prize, as well as a spot on the bill at the Royal Variety Performance later this year.
