It’s best-ever games for para athletes, script history with record 7 medals

Gold silver Glasgow India the Glasgow Commonwealth Games

Indian para shot putter Soman Rana clinched gold in the men’s F57 event as he hurled the globe for a season’s best 13.40m to stand on top of the podium on Sunday. Compatriot Shubham Juyal (season’s best 13.28m) pocketed the silver, while Cameron’s Cedric Azamdzi (12.57m) took home the bronze as Indian para sports athletes scripted history in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games by equalling the haul of all the previous editions put together, winning seven medals.

The 28-member Indian para sports contingent ended their campaign with 3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze. There is no Indian event in para sports on Sunday.
