Italian restaurant owner ERUPTS at one star Google review - 'come get your money back'

An Italian restaurant owner erupted after a customer left a one star review and has urged them to "come and get your money back."

The Fogo Bar & Kitchen in Edgbaston, Birmingham, which has a 4.7 rating out of 5 stars on Google Reviews and a five star score on Tripadvisor, hit back at an unhappy diner who claimed their food is "over-expensive".

The negative review came despite a recent reviewer giving the restaurant five stars on Google Reviews.

They said: “The best Italian. The food is absolutely delicious, amazing customer service, and we have to go at least once a week because their food is exceptional.

“The food is freshly prepared and the flavours are breathtaking! We have never left this place unsatisfied or unhappy!”.

Another happy customer shared a similar experience and said: “A lovely family run restaurant. Delicious food with lots of choice, I highly recommend it”

“Customer service is brilliant and attentive. Food 10 /10, I’ll definitely come back”.

The diner had visited the Italian restaurant last month and later left their thoughts on Google Reviews (Fogo Bar & Kitchen/facebook)

But one reviewer did not agree with her fellow customers, criticising the restaurant’s prices, and stated they 'wouldn't go back'. The review in full said: “Over expensive. I felt ripped off.

“I wouldn't go back no matter how tasteful the food was. £80 for a wine and two courses that I could have prepared myself at home (spaghetti)”.

The review led to a fiery response from the owner who took exception to the cost of the menu, BirminghamLive reports.

The owner justified the prices and went through the customer’s order, urging her to get her money back if she felt ripped off.

The response in full said: “First of all you can make any food at home if you want to dine at home, but you chose to dine out for a reason.

"We pride ourselves for providing high quality ingredients and our prices are totally justified with our food quality.

“Also we have prices on our menu and you could prepare yourself before you order. You had 2 mains, a starter and a bottle of wine which was £32.95, it came to a total of £80 which is an average price for eating for 2 in any restaurant.

“As you said the food was tasty and I really don’t understand how you chose to give us 1 star rating because of your own choices.

"If you think you have been ripped off, come back and get your money back because that’s not what we are about."

On Tripadvisor, Fogo Bar & Kitchen is currently listed inside the top 30 restaurants in Birmingham, ranking at number 29.

Both food and service is ranked at five stars on the popular website.

One recent review said: “My wife and I visited for dinner after reading the reviews and Fogo definitely lives up to them.

"Intimate restaurant with a lovely relaxed vibe with friendly and discreet service.

The food was excellent and each course was packed with flavour. The bruschetta, diavolo pizza and the tagliatelle siciliana were just spot on.

“You can't go wrong with tiramisu (we shared) plus a very good wine list. It's not cheap, however we both really enjoyed the meal, atmosphere and service and will certainly be back”.
