
Italian far-right leader Giorgia Meloni and her allies, victorious in Sunday's parliamentary elections, have begun the long and probably fraught process of forming a new government, against a background of crisis and division.
Meloni's post-fascist Brothers of Italy party, which triumphed in Sunday's elections, has no experience of power. She must now assemble a cross-party team to tackle sky-high inflation and energy prices, as well as smoothing relations with Europe.
