It sounds like Clayface is going to be a full DCU horror movie, as first footage is called "violent" and "highly disturbing"

Clayface in Batman: The Animated Series.

Early reactions to the first Clayface footage are in, and the DCU movie sounds like it's going full-blown horror.

The first footage from the DCU Chapter One: Gods and Monsters movie was shown behind closed doors at CinemaCon, and reactions are rolling in.

"CLAYFACE is actually committing to the comic book movie as body horror bit. Some images are outright disgusting and highly disturbing, with the name of the game here being an all-encompassing psychological, cringe-inducing experience. Pleasantly surprised," says critic James Preston Poole.

"Oh fuck #Clayface is a HORROR horror movie Massively unnerving teaser," says media personality Coy Jandreau.

"It looks visceral, violent, and thrilling... the acting quickly implies there will be a brutal internal conflict for Clayface as he becomes whatever he will after the accident," says entertainment personality Brandon Davis.

New Rockstars describes the footage as "BRUTAL," while Fandango's Erik Davis writes: "First teaser for #Clayface screens - full-on body horror vibes. Quick shots around a man lying in a hospital bed with bandages around his head. Ends with Tom Rhys Harries lying in a bathtub and quite literally wipes his face off with his hand. Freaky stuff. In theaters October."

Entertainment Weekly says the film "emphasizes body horror over your more classical comic-book-based offering," and Variety similarly described Clayface as "a body horror movie."

According to reports of the footage, it shows Tom Rhys Harries's Matt Hagen in hospital with a bandaged face. Glimpses of his past are revealed, along with the injections that give him his powers. He's attacked by some wielding a knife, and his face shifts a lot.

Clayface arrives this October 23. While you wait, check out our guide to all the upcoming DC movies for everything else that the studio has in store.
