'It's unarguable' - Simon Jordan makes blunt Pep Guardiola claim about Jurgen Klopp

Simon Jordan has claimed Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is a ‘chequebook manager’ and compared his achievements at the Etihad with those of Jurgen Klopp.

The Spaniard was heavily praised following his side’s convincing 5-0 Champions League win over Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday, and has also been lauded for City’s domestic dominance in recent years.

Guardiola’s side are nine points clear of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League, but the Reds do have a game in hand.

If City do go on and win the title it will be their fourth in the last five seasons, all of which would’ve been won under the former Barcelona boss.

Whilst Guardiola has been lauded for the success he’s brought to the club, Jordan suggested that the money he’s had to spend has been the key factor.

The former Crystal Palace owner also assessed what the Spaniard has spent in comparison to Klopp .

"Manchester City were already on a par with Liverpool in terms of having built a squad because they have had this money for seven years," Jordan told talkSPORT .

"Every single point that has been won by Liverpool under Klopp has cost them £243,000.

"Guardiola has spent three times the amount of money that Klopp has spent."

Jordan also rubbished the notion that Guardiola needed to spend vast amounts to rebuild an ageing City squad, by insisting that Klopp needed to make significant changes in his playing personnel after arriving at the club in 2015.

He added: "Klopp took over a side that were disappointed after losing [the Premier League] and in disarray after Brendan Rodgers had lost his way in that 2015-16 season.

"You have got to compare and contrast. If you compare the time they have been there, Guardiola has spent three times the amount of money. Fact.

"Now if you gave Klopp £667,000 per point won in the Premier League in the six years that he has been there, he may well be in the same situation as Guardiola is in because Guardiola is a chequebook manager. It's unarguable."
