Reactions to an app redesign pretty much map to the different stages of grief — denial, anger, bargaining, depression and, eventually, acceptance. Having spent a considerable amount of time using iOS 18 since the first beta came out over the summer, I've finally reached the acceptance stage with the new look for iOS 18 Photos.
Actually, that's underselling it a bit. After using Photos for a while now, I'm willing to concede that the app's new look is, on the whole, an improvement over the version of Photos that appeared in iOS 17. The app's strengths certainly outweigh the one or two critiques I still have about the new look for Photos introduced with this year's iOS update.
