Residents living in a Cardiff apartment block have described the "unbearable" conditions they live in during hot weather. They say living conditions are becoming increasingly uncomfortable as temperatures reached well into the 30°Cs during recent heatwaves.
One apartment was recently recorded as reaching 30°C and another resident living in the block called the situation "horrible", though people in homes and flats all over Cardiff will also be struggling as temperatures get near to, and break, all-time records. On Saturday, parts of Wales broke their all-time August temperature records, while in July, Wales experienced the hottest day ever recorded, with the temperature reaching 37.1°C. The country is currently in the midst of four days of weather warnings for extreme heat and thunderstorms.
Rhys Jones, 36, who left Hamadryad Court in Butetown recently, said: "It has been an ongoing problem, the heat. The windows open automatically in the corridors, so they can only react to excessive heat. You can't control any aspect of it yourself."
