People in Ilkeston say they are disgusted by the behaviour of youths as they are throwing dog poo at passing cars.

Reports say children that have been hiding behind a hedge and throwing bags of dog faeces and stones at cars which are passing by.

This has been happening across multiple days near Granby Park on Cotmanhay Road in Ilkeston.

According to residents the youths are going into the park bins to get the faeces.

Police have urged parents to ‘educate your child of the dangers and consequences to this’.

Residents in Ilkeston have shared how disgusted by this they say that ‘it’s the upbringing’ that causes this behaviour.

Heather Shipley, 67, retired, told Nottinghamshire Live that these youths aren’t being monitored.

She said: “It’s disgusting - no one monitors them.

“Part of its parents, part of it is control and part of it is them being bored.

“They just wander the streets.

“It’s disgusting.”

Kyle Hobson, 21, who works in house removal, says that incidents similar to this have been going on for years.

Mr Hobson said: “The idea of people going in bins is disgusting.

“A few days? I’ve lived here my whole life and it’s been going on for years - similar things.”

Another resident from Ilkeston, Stephan Booth, 45, a self-employed painter, says that these children are going into the bins on Granby Park to get the dog faeces.

“I’m aware of it,” Mr Booth says.

“They’re going in the bins on the park, getting it and chucking it about.

“It’s disgusting.

“You’d think there would be more patrols.”

Kim Mellors, 32, homemaker, said: “I think it’s the upbringing - it’s what they’re taught from day one.

“I don’t know what they think to go to such extremes.

“I can’t believe it really - at the same time educate your children.”

A spokesperson for Ilkeston Police said: "If you are a witness or have been affected by this please contact Derbyshire Constabulary on 101.

"If you let your child play on Granby Park or in the area please educate your child of the dangers and consequences to this.

"Erewash Borough Council have been contacted to clean up the mess and empty the bins in the area."
