While reports linking the 30-year-old with a move to Tyneside are well wide of the mark, they serve as a reminder of the wealth Newcastle now possess. There aren't many who could boast riches that would allow them to sign one of the world's premier talents.
However, Newcastle certainly won't be signing the Brazilian this summer, with the club looking to build an entirely cohesive team first and foremost over a 'Galacticos' style approach.
