'It needs to be' - Gary Neville's message to the Glazers amid possible Manchester United sale

Gary Neville insists the Glazer family need to complete a full sale of Manchester United, rather than selling a small stake in the club.

The Glazers, last month, confirmed that they had put the club on the market and would seek new investment. The American owners are understood to prefer the idea of a full sale, but there is still a possibility that they could sell a stake in the club while remaining in full control.

They have been under enormous pressure to sell the Reds for several years, as highlighted by the collection of fan protests that have taken place so far this season. A number of global giants, including Apple and Amazon, have been linked with the prospect of buying the club.

And for Neville, who has spoken passionately about the need for the Glazers to wash their hands of United in recent months, it is vitally important that a full sale is completed.

"Yes, I mean it's out of his [Erik ten Hag's] hands," Neville told Sky Sports. "It's out of everyone's hands.

"There's only the Glazer family themselves that can determine what happens and obviously the bidding parties. It has been needed, this, it has been coming for the last six to eight months because the cash requirement that is needed to build, to rebuild this stadium, refurbish this stadium, whatever it is they decide to do, the cost of the transfer market nowadays - competing with [Manchester] City and the other clubs at the top - they haven’t got the money.

"They've obviously put the club into quite a bit of debt and they can't extend that debt either, so it's absolutely right, it needs to be a full sale. I think it will."
