IT consulting firm Optomi is building a 30,000 square-foot facility in Wayne County that will help create 200 full-time jobs.
Optomi is the parent company of Provalus, which creates IT jobs in rural communities.
The firm works with Fortune 2,000 companies in fields like cybersecurity, network operations and quality assurance.
“This has been a great project for Monticello, Kentucky, and the people of Wayne County,” state Representative Ken Upchurch (R-Wayne County) said during Gov. Andy Beshear’s regular media briefing Thursday “We're excited about the prospects. And I'm excited about the economic development opportunities that are knocking on Wayne County's door.”
Wayne County Judge Executive Scott Gehring says it’s the largest investment in the county in more than a decade.
“Since 2010, we've not had any growth like this, so we can get our folks traveling out of town back home. It's going to be a big economic impact to our community, and even the surrounding counties.”
Construction is expected to finish in December of next year.
