It Ends With Us author defends Blake Lively's 'dodgy' outfits as filming for movie paused

Colleen Hoover has admitted that she's "not worried" about criticism from fans over costumes worn in the It Ends With Us book adaptation.

The film will follow the plot of the book, which has been praised as a "heart-wrenching and unforgettable tale" about the toxic relationship between a daughter and her father.

Photos from the set were released, showing Blake, who is acting as Lily Bloom, in a series of outfit which fans have branded "horrible" and "dodgy."

"I really REALLY hope that they all planned out the paparazzi pictures from behind scenes of It Ends With Us, making Blake Lively wear all those horrible outfits," one fan wrote.

A second added: "It ends with us movie with Blake Lively I'm loving but I'm disappointed in Lily Bloom's dodgy outfits."

"I haven’t and probably will never read Colleen Hoover books but is anyone else getting the It Ends with Us bts pics bc all of Blake lively’s outfits are…not great," a third tweeted.

Chatting with Jenna Bush Hager at the annual Book Bonanza festival, Collen shared her thoughts on the current controversy.

“I don’t remember describing outfits at all. I don’t care what they have on,” the bestselling author said. “In my head, it’s about the conversation they’re having and the story. It’s the same way in the movie.

"You’ve seen a couple of outfits that are completely out of context. I’m not worried about it," she continued.

Colleen's response comes after filming for the movie was shut down until after the Writers Guild of America strike has been resolved. Filming was halfway through and had begun in early May in Hoboken, New Jersey, before it was halted.

According to Digital Spy, the production was paused because the producers failed to convince the WGA that the co-financing status of Wayfarer Studios meant that the movie was within WGA guidelines.
