Israeli War Cabinet Member Issues Ultimatum To Prime Minister

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convenes the weekly cabinet meeting, in Tel Aviv

Israeli war cabinet member and former Deputy Prime Minister Benny Gantz has issued an ultimatum to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, demanding that the cabinet agree on a six-point plan for the Gaza conflict by June 8th. Gantz threatened to leave the coalition government if Netanyahu fails to meet his expectations.

Gantz's message emphasized the need for Netanyahu to prioritize the national interest over personal or far-right political interests within the government. The ultimatum comes amid concerns that Netanyahu's decision-making is being influenced by radical elements in his coalition.

The six-point plan outlined by Gantz includes disarming Gaza, eliminating Hamas, bringing back hostages, establishing a non-Hamas-controlled Gaza, repatriating displaced residents, and progressing towards normalization with Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, Israel has recovered the body of another hostage, identified as 53-year-old Ron Benjamin, who was killed by Hamas during a bike ride near Gaza on October 7th. The IDF announced the recovery of Benjamin's body along with three others, leaving approximately 124 hostages still held by Hamas in Gaza.

Protests have erupted in various cities across Israel, urging the government to expedite efforts to secure the release of remaining hostages. Families fear that prolonged negotiations and the ongoing conflict may diminish the chances of reuniting with their loved ones alive.
