Israeli troops are carrying out what they describe as 'precise operations' at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza in an effort to thwart terrorism, as reported by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Israel Security Agency, known as Shin Bet (ISA).
According to a joint statement by the IDF and ISA, the troops have so far killed over 50 terrorists and apprehended approximately 180 suspects during their operations at the hospital.
The statement emphasized that the troops have been conducting close-quarters combat to eliminate terrorists and have also located weapons in the area. Importantly, efforts have been made to avoid harm to civilians, medical staff, and medical equipment throughout the operations.
The Israeli army initiated the operation at Al-Shifa Hospital on Monday, where thousands of people are seeking shelter.
Inside the hospital, a fifth-year medical student named Ezz El-Din Lulu, who is trapped, has made a plea for urgent intervention to prevent the hospital from becoming a mass grave. Lulu highlighted the dangers faced by anyone moving within the hospital grounds, as they risk being targeted by snipers. He also mentioned the challenges faced by medical staff in treating the injured due to the ongoing situation.
Lulu further expressed concerns about the lack of essential supplies such as food, water, and electricity at the hospital, stating that they have been cut off from these basic necessities.
In response to the Israeli operation at the hospital, Hamas released a statement condemning the actions and expressing sorrow over the loss of civilian lives in the surrounding areas.
The situation at Al-Shifa Hospital remains tense, with concerns raised about the safety and well-being of those inside the facility amidst the ongoing military operations.
