Recent Israeli strikes in Lebanon have resulted in a significant number of casualties and damage to infrastructure. The latest report from the ministry highlighted 52 deaths and 72 injuries in Lebanon's Baalbek-Hermel region, affecting residents in 14 villages in the southern and eastern parts of the country. Israel's military confirmed targeting Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon and Beirut.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that precautions were taken to minimize civilian risks, including issuing advance warnings to residents in targeted areas. However, it was noted that some areas where casualties occurred did not receive these warnings through the usual communication channels.
The IDF has raised concerns about Hezbollah embedding weapons and military facilities within civilian-populated areas in Lebanon. Israeli officials claim that recent rocket attacks by Hezbollah have targeted Israel, resulting in civilian casualties.
Earlier reports from Lebanon's health ministry indicated that Israeli strikes had targeted numerous medical facilities, including hospitals, medical centers, and ambulance stations. Tragically, 178 medical staff members have lost their lives as a result of these attacks since October last year.
