Israeli Strike Kills 25, Including 10 Children In Gaza

In Gaza, rows of white shrouds symbolize mounting civilian deaths

An Israeli strike on a residential building in northern Gaza on Monday evening resulted in the tragic deaths of at least 25 people, including 10 children, according to local authorities. The strike targeted a multi-story building in Beit Hanoun where several families and dozens of residents were taking shelter.

Dr. Munir Al-Bursh, the general director of Gaza’s health ministry, confirmed that among the victims were all members of the Al-Kahlout family, spanning multiple generations. The family had been displaced and seeking refuge in the building when it was hit.

Gaza civil defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal reported that rescue teams recovered bodies from under the rubble and the surrounding streets, with body parts scattered in the aftermath of the strike. Efforts are ongoing to locate and retrieve additional victims who remain trapped beneath the debris.

In response to the incident, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) acknowledged the reports of casualties and stated that the strike was carried out as part of targeted operations against Hamas fighters engaged in suspicious activities in the area. The IDF emphasized its commitment to minimizing harm to civilians not involved in the conflict.

Meanwhile, Israel has also intensified military actions in Syria following the collapse of the Assad regime. The Israeli military reported conducting approximately 480 strikes across Syria in recent days, targeting strategic weapon stockpiles and key locations.

The situation in the region remains tense as both Gaza and Syria grapple with the repercussions of escalating violence and military operations.
