Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to convene a security cabinet meeting to address the escalating situation in northern Israel. This meeting follows a series of events that began with rockets being launched from Lebanon into Israel, in response to Israeli military strikes in southern Lebanon on Sunday.
The Israeli military reported around 200 rocket launches from Lebanon towards Israel, with no injuries reported thus far. In light of these developments, Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant has declared a 'special situation on the home front' nationwide. This declaration allows the military to issue instructions to citizens, such as limiting gatherings and closing relevant sites.
Several cities and towns in northern Israel have taken precautionary measures in response to the situation. The Municipality of Acre has advised residents to remain close to shelters and reduce unnecessary travel. Meanwhile, in Haifa, shelters have been opened as a safety measure, as confirmed by the municipality spokesperson.
