Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently underwent surgery to have his prostate removed after suffering from a urinary tract infection. The surgery, which took place on Sunday, was successful, according to sources.
Netanyahu's office stated that the urinary tract infection was a result of a benign enlargement of his prostate. While his current condition is unknown, the Israeli leader has had several health procedures in the past two years.
In March, Netanyahu underwent hernia surgery under full anesthesia, during which Deputy Prime Minister Yariv Levin temporarily assumed his responsibilities. Prior to this, in July 2023, Netanyahu was hospitalized for dehydration after visiting the Sea of Galilee without proper hydration or sun protection during a heatwave.
Following his hospitalization for dehydration, Netanyahu's doctors implanted a pacemaker to regulate his heart rate and rhythm. The decision to implant the pacemaker came after a monitoring device alerted him to the need for the procedure.
Despite his recent surgery, Netanyahu continues to testify in a corruption case against him in Israel. He appeared in court earlier this month and is expected to continue his testimony in the new year.
Additionally, Netanyahu is leading the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in various operations across the Middle East, targeting Iranian terrorists and their proxies. Recent IDF strikes have targeted Houthi rebels, hitting locations such as Sanaa International Airport in Yemen and Houthi infrastructure in ports like Al-Hudaydah, Salif, and Ras Kanatib.
