Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has decided to shorten his planned trip to the US next week, as confirmed by Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon on Friday. Originally scheduled to arrive on Tuesday, the first day of the high-level week when world leaders convene in New York City, Netanyahu's travel plans have been altered due to developments back home.
Danon informed journalists at the UN headquarters in New York that the trip would be delayed, with the possibility of further changes depending on the situation in Israel. He stated, 'He will not arrive on Tuesday as scheduled. We need to postpone now and will monitor the situation in Israel.'
Furthermore, Danon hinted at the likelihood of Netanyahu not coming at all during that week, emphasizing that the final decision would be made based on unfolding events. 'We will know when he is coming or if he is coming,' Danon added.
Earlier on Friday, Netanyahu's office announced that the prime minister's flight to New York would be postponed by one day. Despite the delay, Netanyahu is still expected to address the UN General Assembly next week.
