Israeli Prime Minister Denies Progress On Hostage Deal

Protest demanding a hostage deal, in Tel Aviv

In Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has denied any progress on a deal to bring Israeli hostages home from Hamas captivity. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) are facing accusations of killing a Turkish American citizen activist in the West Bank during a protest.

Despite calls from Hamas and Egypt for the removal of Israeli troops from the Philadelphia corridor, Prime Minister Netanyahu remains steadfast in his decision to keep troops there. He argues that the presence of troops is necessary to prevent Hamas from smuggling weapons.

Meanwhile, in the West Bank, an American Turkish woman lost her life while protesting against the expansion of Israeli settlements. Witnesses reported that Israeli troops opened fire during the demonstration in the town of Beta. Israel has stated that the incident is currently under review to determine the details and circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

CIA Chief Bill Burns, speaking in the UK, mentioned that there are hopes for a new ceasefire proposal in the near future. However, he emphasized that achieving this ceasefire will require significant political will from both Israel and Hamas.
