Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office has agreed to reschedule a planned meeting with US and Israeli officials to discuss a planned ground offensive in Rafah, as confirmed by the White House on Wednesday. This decision comes just days after Netanyahu canceled the delegation's visit.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated, 'The Prime Minister’s Office has agreed to reschedule the meeting dedicated to Rafah. We’re now working with them to find a convenient date that works for both sides. His office has agreed to reschedule the meeting, which is a positive development.'
While the rescheduled date for the meeting has not been disclosed, Jean-Pierre emphasized that it is an urgent priority for both parties.
The initial cancellation of the delegation's trip occurred following the US abstention from a UN Security Council vote that called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. This move by Netanyahu's office to reschedule the meeting indicates a willingness to engage in discussions regarding the situation in Rafah.
