The Israeli military has confirmed that it is currently engaged in ongoing operations in and around Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City for the fourteenth consecutive day. Simultaneously, forces are conducting operations in the Al Amal area of Khan Younis.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), they, along with the Israeli Security Agency (ISA), are carrying out what they describe as 'precise operational activity' in the vicinity of Al-Shifa hospital. The IDF stated on Sunday that their primary objective is to prevent harm to civilians, patients, and medical teams. They reported engaging in close-quarters combat with individuals they identified as 'terrorists' who were barricaded in the area. Additionally, the IDF claims to have discovered weapons within the hospital's vicinity.
Contrastingly, Gaza's Health Ministry released a statement on Saturday indicating that 107 patients, including 30 paralyzed individuals, and 60 medical staff are currently inside Al-Shifa hospital enduring what they described as 'inhuman conditions.' The patients and staff are reportedly lacking access to essential resources such as water, medicine, food, and electricity. The ministry further alleged that attempts to evacuate these individuals through international channels have been obstructed by the Israeli occupation, placing their lives in imminent danger.
Reports from Palestinians within and around Al-Shifa hospital have detailed civilian casualties, arrests, and significant destruction within the complex. The situation remains tense as the conflict in the region shows no signs of abating.
