The Israeli military has reported that its soldiers have made significant progress in southern Lebanon since the ground incursion began at the end of last month. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that the 98th Division had conducted a raid on a Hezbollah headquarters, marking the deepest area IDF forces have operated in during ground operations in Lebanon.
The IDF stated that the soldiers are targeting terrorist infrastructures, eliminating terrorists, and locating and destroying numerous weapons. The forces are engaged in combat in various areas in southern Lebanon, both above ground and underground.
Additionally, the IDF revealed that troops had raided a Hezbollah headquarters and an observation post overseeing settlements in the Galilee Panhandle, a narrow strip of land on the Israel-Lebanon border. They successfully located and destroyed munitions, weapons, and other enemy intelligence assets.
Israel has characterized its ground offensive against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon as limited in scope. The incursion, labeled by Israel’s National Security Cabinet as the “next phase” of the conflict with Hezbollah, represents the fourth instance of Israeli soldiers publicly entering Lebanese territory in nearly half a century.
