A journalist described the scene at Gaza City's Al-Shifa Hospital as resembling a horror movie after Israeli forces ended their two-week siege of the facility. The journalist reported that bulldozers were seen crushing bodies of people in and around the hospital's yard. Families were arriving at the complex in search of missing loved ones, with many unable to locate their family members, some of whom they believed to be deceased but whose bodies were missing.
The journalist also noted the grim discovery of entire families found dead, their bodies decomposed in nearby houses. Survivors within the hospital were reported to be malnourished, with limited access to food and water. According to the journalist, individuals inside the hospital were given only one bottle of water per day to share among six people, leading to severe starvation among the survivors.
The journalist expressed shock and disbelief at the devastating conditions witnessed, stating that the situation went beyond being described as a mere crime. In a statement confirming their withdrawal from the hospital, Israel's military asserted that their troops had targeted terrorists while aiming to prevent harm to civilians.
