An Israeli airstrike in Beirut has resulted in the death of a top Hezbollah commander, as confirmed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Tuesday. The strike targeted Ibrahim Muhammad Qabisi, who was the commander of Hezbollah's missiles and rockets force, along with other Hezbollah commanders.
This recent airstrike marks the fifth targeted attack by Israel in Lebanon's capital of Beirut since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas War, with three of these strikes occurring in the last five days. Last Friday, another airstrike in Beirut claimed the life of Ibrahim Aqil, who was in charge of Hezbollah's operations and served as the commander of its Radwan Force.
The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has escalated, with both sides engaging in missile strikes. Hezbollah reported launching missiles at eight different targets within Israel, while the Israeli military stated that around 100 projectiles were fired from Lebanon towards Israel.
Lebanese officials have reported a significant death toll, with at least 558 people killed in a massive Israeli barrage on Monday. The situation in Lebanon has been further complicated by a series of explosions that destroyed hundreds of communication devices predominantly used by Hezbollah members last week. While Lebanon has accused Israel of being behind these attacks, Israel has neither confirmed nor denied its involvement.
