The Israeli Air Force chief, Tomer Bar, addressed soldiers on Thursday, revealing that the force is actively preparing for a potential ground invasion into Lebanon to combat Hezbollah if the order is given. Bar emphasized the joint preparation with the Northern Command for a ground maneuver, stating that while readiness is paramount, the decision to proceed rests with higher authorities.
Bar highlighted the strategic importance of weakening Hezbollah by targeting them both from the air and the ground in a coordinated manner. He stressed the significance of preventing weapon transfers from Iran to the Iran-backed militant group as a top priority for the military.
Recent Israeli military actions in Lebanon, including deadly strikes and explosions targeting Hezbollah members, have resulted in casualties among the group's leadership. Elite commander Ibrahim Aqil was among those killed in the operations.
The confidence and resilience of Hezbollah, led by Hassan Nasrallah, are closely tied to the supply pipeline from Iran. Bar's statements underscore the ongoing efforts to disrupt this supply chain and undermine Hezbollah's capabilities.
