An Israeli Air Force investigation has determined that Israeli hostage Efrat Katz was likely killed by fire from an Israeli combat helicopter on October 7. The incident occurred when the helicopter fired at a vehicle carrying militants, unaware that hostages were also present.
Katz, who was kidnapped from her home in Kibbutz Nir Oz, southern Israel by militants from Gaza, was in the vehicle along with other hostages and militants when it was struck by the helicopter. The investigation, based on witness testimony and video footage, revealed that the hostages could not be distinguished from the militants by surveillance systems.
