Israel Strikes Hezbollah Naval Base In Beirut

Smoke rises above Lebanon, following an Israeli strike, amid ongoing cross-border hostilities between Hezbollah and Israeli forces, as seen from Israel's border with Lebanon

Israel launched a targeted strike on a Hezbollah naval base in Beirut overnight, as confirmed by the Israeli military on Tuesday. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that the naval base housed a training center, experimental facilities, and military speedboats intended for attacks on Israeli navy vessels and targets within Israel’s territorial waters.

In addition to the naval base, Israel conducted strikes on Hezbollah weapons storage facilities, command centers, and other terrorist targets in Beirut, including underground locations. The IDF emphasized that precautions were taken to minimize civilian casualties, with advanced warnings issued to civilians in the area prior to the strikes.

The recent escalation follows Iran’s ballistic missile attack on Israel on October 1, prompting speculation about potential retaliatory actions from Israel. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that neighboring countries had assured Iran that their territories would not be used for attacks against Iran, pledging a strong response to any aggression.

While Araghchi claimed support from regional neighbors, Gulf Arab nations have not publicly made similar commitments. The situation remains tense as Israel and Iran navigate escalating tensions in the region.
