Israel's defense minister has indicated a strong possibility of launching a ground incursion into Lebanon, as tensions escalate in the region. During a visit to Israeli troops near the Lebanese border, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant emphasized the importance of eliminating Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, but also hinted at further actions to be taken.
Gallant's remarks to soldiers from brigade 188 and the Golani brigade suggested a readiness to utilize all available capabilities, including ground forces, to achieve their objectives. This signals a significant shift towards a potential ground offensive in southern Lebanon.
Chief of the General Staff, Herzi Halevi, had previously mentioned airstrikes in Lebanon as part of the strategy to weaken Hezbollah and pave the way for a possible ground operation. Gallant reiterated Israel's commitment to reclaiming territories in the north and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
He stated, 'We are prepared to make every effort necessary to accomplish this mission. We will use all the means that may be required – your forces, other forces, from the air, from the sea, and on land.'
The escalating rhetoric and military movements indicate a growing likelihood of Israel's military engagement in Lebanon. The situation remains tense as both sides appear to be preparing for potential conflict in the region.
