Israel's military has announced that it has killed around 250 Hezbollah militants since initiating a ground offensive in southern Lebanon earlier this week. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) revealed that in the last 24 hours alone, approximately 100 fighters belonging to the Iran-backed group have been eliminated.
During a briefing on Friday, the IDF's international spokesperson highlighted the impact of the recent intensified fighting. Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani stated, 'What we have seen in these days of more intense fighting... I can tell you that alongside our casualties, we've been able to inflict a serious blow to Hezbollah, targeting both its senior and tactical level commanders.'
Israel has characterized its military operations in southern Lebanon as 'limited, localized, and targeted.' When questioned about the evacuation of numerous southern Lebanese villages despite these assertions, Shoshani explained, 'Sadly, Hezbollah has embedded widely and deeply into Lebanon.'
The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has raised concerns about the escalating violence in the region. The IDF's efforts to combat Hezbollah's presence in southern Lebanon have resulted in a significant number of militant casualties, reflecting the intensity of the situation.
As the situation continues to unfold, both Israel and Hezbollah remain engaged in a complex and volatile conflict that has far-reaching implications for the region. The IDF's latest operations underscore the challenges posed by Hezbollah's entrenched presence in Lebanon and the ongoing efforts to address this threat.
