Israel's Intense Airstrike Campaign In Lebanon Surpasses US Fight

Smoke rises as seen from Israel-Lebanon border in northern Israel

Recent data from a conflict monitoring group has revealed that Israel's bombardment of Lebanon has exceeded the intensity of the United States' battle against ISIS. In less than three weeks, Israel has conducted an unprecedented airstrike campaign in Lebanon, resulting in over 1,400 fatalities, nearly 7,500 injuries, and displacing more than one million individuals from their homes, as reported by the Lebanese health ministry.

During a span of just two days, on September 24 and September 25, the Israeli military disclosed the use of 2,000 munitions and the execution of 3,000 strikes. To provide context, throughout most of America's 20-year engagement in Afghanistan, the US conducted fewer than 3,000 strikes annually, with an exception in the initial year of invasion where approximately 6,500 strikes were carried out, according to Airwars data analysis.

Israel's ongoing bombardment, purportedly aimed at Hezbollah strongholds in Lebanon, has been identified by Airwars as the most intense aerial campaign globally outside of Gaza in the past two decades. The majority of the exchanged fire between Israel and Hezbollah has originated from Israeli strikes, drones, shelling, and missiles on Lebanese territory, based on data from ACLED (Armed Conflict Location and Event Data).

Since October 8, Israel has launched close to 9,000 attacks into Lebanon, while Hezbollah has initiated 1,500 attacks within the same timeframe, as per ACLED data. The escalation of violence in the region underscores the severity of the conflict and its impact on civilian populations.
