Former Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert believes the country's general election, to be held this Tuesday, is an "inevitable battle about the future of Israel." He warns the fate of current prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu "may become the disaster of the state of Israel."
Olmert believes Netanyahu is "creating an atmosphere of hysteria and fear", backing former military chief Gadi Eisenkot who he describes as a "restrained and responsible." Despite Netanyahu's possible defeat, Olmert does not expect significant change in policies, but insists Israel is "on its way to become normal again."
