Israel's decision to strip Britain's East Jerusalem consulate of its status has forced the departure of 20 UK diplomats and turned a simmering row over West Bank sanctions into a full-scale diplomatic stand-off.
The British Consulate General has ceased operating in its previous form, with 20 diplomats, including the consul general, leaving Israel. Seven diplomats will remain at the building under a new name, the UK Mission, Jerusalem.
