The escalation in violence comes after days of clashes between Israeli security forces and Palestinian protesters in Jerusalem. Tensions have been running high over the planned eviction of Palestinian families from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, as well as restrictions on access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan.
