Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have been carrying out cross-border raids inside Lebanon since the onset of the war last October. According to IDF spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, the recent ground operation in Lebanon was described as 'limited and localized.'
Hagari stated that the IDF's operations in Lebanon have been ongoing for months with the objective of dismantling Hezbollah's terrorist capabilities and infrastructure that pose a threat to Israeli civilian communities in northern Israel. He mentioned that Israeli troops have entered Lebanon multiple times, conducting raids in villages, uncovering tunnels, collecting intelligence, and destroying infrastructure and weapons. The IDF claims to have identified and eliminated over 700 sites.
The IDF discovered tunnels beneath houses in villages along the border, alleging that Hezbollah had constructed these tunnels to store weapons. The IDF also released a list of locations where weapons were found. However, these claims have not been independently verified.
Hezbollah has denied reports of Israeli forces entering southern Lebanon on Tuesday, refuting the allegations made by the IDF. The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah continues to escalate, with both sides engaging in military actions along the border.
