Israel and Lebanon-based Hezbollah have been engaged in a tit-for-tat escalation since the war in Gaza began following Hamas’ attack on Israel last October.
Hezbollah has stated its intention to continue striking Israel until a ceasefire is achieved in the Palestinian enclave, which has suffered significant destruction due to Israeli bombings and conflict.
In recent weeks, Israel has shifted its military focus northward, aiming to repatriate displaced residents to their homes along the Lebanon border. Approximately 60,000 Israeli civilians have been displaced from their homes as a result of Hezbollah's rocket attacks.
The ongoing conflict has resulted in some of the most intense fighting between the two historical adversaries since the 2006 Lebanon war, which claimed the lives of 1,100 individuals in the country.
Last month, pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah members were targeted in a coordinated Israeli attack that caused numerous casualties and injuries, including women and children, across Lebanon.
Israel has intensified its bombing campaign throughout Lebanon, focusing on dismantling Hezbollah's infrastructure and leadership. However, these airstrikes have also led to significant destruction of homes and neighborhoods in densely populated areas. The extensive airstrikes in southern Beirut have resulted in the deaths of several Hezbollah leaders and over 1,000 individuals.
