The head of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) has revealed a significant increase in the number of Islamic jihadist terrorists in Africa, with a tenfold rise reported. U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Michael Langley, commander of AFRICOM, shared this information during an exclusive virtual interview ahead of the African Chiefs of Defense Conference in Botswana.
Gen. Langley highlighted the evolving threats from China, Russia, and Iran, emphasizing the need for vigilance and strategic responses. He noted the surge of Islamic jihadist activity on the African continent, from 4% in 2008 to 40% currently, underscoring AFRICOM's mission to provide indications and warnings for homeland protection.
