PANAJI: Mumbai City FC have responded to the disappointment of missing out on a spot among the playoffs this season with the signing of Scottish attacking midfielder Greg Stewart, the Indian Super League’s best player.

Mumbai won a League Winners’ Shield and ISL trophy double in 2020-21, but the defending champions only finished fifth this season, three points adrift of fourth-placed Kerala Blasters. Given the encouraging start, it was a disappointing end to their campaign, and they have now kickstarted preparations for next season with the star signing of Stewart on a two-year deal.
