Isaiah Likely turning into a Swiss army knife at multiple positions

The Ravens don’t run much of their offense out of the “double tight” formation. Baltimore typically lines up just one tight end, not two. However, this doesn’t mean we won’t see TE1 Mark Andrews and TE2 Isaiah Likely on the field at the same time this season.

Likely is “a chess piece” for offensive coordinator Todd Monken. He’s being moved around to multiple positions, and it will be very intriguing to see his role.

Right now, it’s just in the experimentation phase.

“It’s being a chess piece, being anywhere ‘Monk’ needs me to be in this offense – whether it’s in the slot, in-line, in the backfield, split out wide by myself,” Likely said.

“The more you know, the more you can stay on the field.”

Likely, 24, is coming off his second season in the league. Last year, he had 50 catches for 411 yards and five touchdowns. Most of that production came while Andrews (who missed seven games last season) was injured.

Getting playing time over Andrews is always going to be tough. After all, he is a three-time Pro-Bowler who set the Ravens’ single-season record for receptions and receiving yards in 2021.

Likely is doing the right thing for the team collectively and himself.
