Isabel Marant serves up Parisian cool girl chic — and takes her bow in Ukrainian flag jumper

The Isabel Marant show in Paris is always a hot ticket, and last night the fashion set turned out in their droves to the elegant Place Colette near the Palais-Royal, to witness the autumn/winter ‘22 vision of Paris’s home grown cool girl.

Despite the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode’s request earlier in the week for attendees to experience the shows “with solemnity, and in reflection of these dark hours,” there was a definite buzz in the atmosphere.

Gigi and Bella Hadid and models of the moment Mona Tougaard and Quinn Elin Mora sported a collection that focused on wardrobe essentials and oozed the effortless cool for which Marant has become known.

Leather overalls, cargo pants – the best in acid wash denim – and pops of neon nodded to the ‘90s, while elongated ruched-sleeve bombers and fuzzy knitwear spoke to a desire for comfort.

The real stars of the show however were the boots. Accompanying every other look were ruched, thigh-high pirate-like boots with chunky heels that worked as brilliantly paired with sparkly sequin minis as they did with denim tucked in.

Marant took her post-show bow as an opportunity to acknowledge the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, wearing their national blue and yellow colours on a two-toned jumper.

She also took to Instagram in the hours before the show to voice the brand’s “support and solidarity to the people of Ukraine,” and to note the Isabel Marant Endowment Fund had donated to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and UNICEF.
